Strengthen measures to ensure food safety for shift meals for workers at enterprises

To strengthen the responsibility of trade unions in contributing to ensuring safety and preventing food poisoning in collective kitchens, the Labor Confederation of Bac Giang province has just issued an Official Dispatch on strengthening measures to ensure food safety for shift meals of workers at enterprises.

Accordingly, the Provincial Confederation of Labor requests units to continue to direct, disseminate, thoroughly grasp, and deploy to grassroots trade unions, union members, and workers Instruction No. 78/HD-TLD dated February 28, 2023 of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the implementation of Directive No. 17-CT/TW dated October 21, 2022 of the XIII Party Central Committee Secretariat on strengthening security and food safety in the new situation.

Strengthen propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility of employers and employees for ensuring food safety at the workplace. Media content focuses on legal provisions on food safety such as Food Safety Law, Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP dated February 1, 2018 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law Food safety, Decree No. 115/2018/ND-CP dated September 4, 2018 of the Government stipulating penalties for administrative violations of food safety, etc. Propagate and publicly praise business models that organize good shift meals for workers, ensuring food safety and hygiene. Recommend handling of violating establishments posing a potential risk of food safety loss according to regulations.

Direct the grassroots trade union to actively, proactively dialogue and negotiate to improve the quality of workers' shift meals according to Conclusion No. 03/KL-BCH dated January 18, 2022 of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on continuing to implement Resolution 7c/NQ-BCH on "Quality of shift meals for workers" associated with ensuring food safety and hygiene in kitchens and collective canteens.

Strengthen facility supervision and proactively coordinate with functional agencies, actively participate in inspection, examination and supervision of compliance with legal regulations on food safety and hygiene at collective kitchens. Propose to the authorities to strictly handle cases of violating the law on food safety and hygiene, and cases of food poisoning seriously affecting the health and life of workers.
